The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will introduce new recyclability requirements for all packaging from 1 January 2030. The Commission is expected to adopt the technical rules, including the Design for Recycling criteria, by 1 January 2028.
As the European Commission is preparing the technical rules underpinning these requirements, Cepi has been actively involved in the process.
Within this context, Cepi has achieved an important alignment across the value chain on a key issue: the maximum level of non-paper content that should be allowed in paper and board packaging when assessing their compatibility with conventional paper recycling processes
During the Cepinar in July, the Cepi compromise proposal was be presented.
