Title: Sustainability & Chemicals Manager
Report to: Sustainability Director

Job Purpose:
The Sustainability & Chemicals Manager is expected to support the Sustainability Director and their team with the projects:

✓ Following EU policies of the Green Deal specific to chemicals, the end-of life of products and food contact materials:
• The revision of REACH
• The Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability including Essential use
• Microplastics
• The revision of the Food Contact Materials Regulation
• Biodegradability
✓ Help putting together an advocacy strategy on the aforementioned files
✓ Manage the dedicated Cepi Issue groups on Chemicals and Microplastics
✓ Assists to form the overall Cepi Advocacy Strategy on Sustainability
✓ Attend meetings with EU stakeholders as part of the advocacy strategy
✓ Prepare the Cepi Environment & Safety Committee meetings

On top of the above-mentioned projects, s/he will support the day-to-day activities in the field of Environment & Safety, such as:
✓ Following up policy topics including the Green Deal
✓ Data and information analysis
✓ Help with business intelligence
✓ Help prepare policy events and take speaking opportunities
✓ Help prepare Cepi events such as Paper and Beyond

Candidates for this post should have:
✓ A relevant university degree. A scientific background in subjects like chemistry considered an asset.
✓ 2 years of relevant professional experience in EU policymaking via work in the EU institutions, trade associations, consultancies etc
✓ An expertise in environment policy issues; Specific experience in chemicals policy and food contact materials considered an asset.
✓ An excellent analytical skill, and the ability to assimilate the various aspects of a complex issue rapidly;
✓ An aptitude to define and implement advocacy strategies;
✓ A talent for negotiating and brokering compromises reflecting the general interest of all businesses on sensitive issues;
✓ The ability to work under pressure and meet objectives within tight deadlines;
✓ A good networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in international/multicultural environment;
✓ Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
✓ Be a team-player and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
