The Clean Energy Package represents a crucial opportunity for setting the right framework for a clean energy system empowering consumers. An efficient energy transition will require a switch towards increased flexibility.
This policy debate brings together energy associations, service providers, industrial players and decision makers to confront concrete ideas on the new electricity market rules required to see the emergence of disruptive players and make the best use of innovative and distributed flexibility options.

Providing an early and robust response to this question will be critical for the EU to live up to its objective of ensuring a cost-efficient and sustainable transition towards a decarbonized power system.
Mr. Müller from the International Energy Agency will present the challenges and opportunities at stake from the perspective of an international institutional player, then Mr. Governatori will present the views of the new energy retailers in Europe notably regarding the level of market openness in Europe.

A panel discussion will include major actors involved in this transformation who will exchange and react to the questions from the audience.
Finally, Mr. Vertmann from the Estonian Permanent Representation will give an overview of the way the upcoming EU Council presidency will address the “Clean Energy for All Europeans” package negotiations, and notably the issues related to flexibility raised during the session.

COP21 in Paris: looking for the “good climate” between environmental protection and industry development

The Conference of Parties in Paris brought new momentum to the policy against climate change in a European context still characterised by a lack of balance between the many tools already in place.

How the Emissions Trading directive, now under revision, will develop, and how it will coordinate with the existing incentives to energy efficiency and to renewables? Which will be its impact on energy market? Which will be the role of cogeneration? Will the industry be “saved” by technological development? These topics are discussed at the MIAC Energy conference, with the contribution of Institutions and industry experts.

The event is free of charge.
