Paper is an amazing product. It is sustainable, clean and incredibly versatile, which leaves plenty of room for the sector to develop new processes, applications and end-uses for the material. The industry produces products with a “pedigree”. In others words, we have done more than most sectors to ensure that we have the systems in place to promote the use of a valuable resource in a sustainable manner, embracing certification, safety and traceability, while doing everything we can to rein in illegal logging and other unethical practices. We never forget that legislators, consumers, and end-users are entitled to challenge us to prove our case when it comes to the safety and sustainability of our product, but industry efforts to date mean that we are placed to provide reassurances for our future, as well as for our customers.
